MANUSKRIPT: Those in the know
MANUSKRIPT: Those in the know will tell you that there aren’t many better live UK goth acts. The energy and interplay between the band on-stage is infectious and their dashing style and wicked sense of humour have been charming audiences worldwide for the best part of twenty years.
SWEET ERMENGARDE: Critically acclaimed as Germany’s most elaborate gothic rock band, Sweet Ermengarde echo the 80s in all its gloom and doom, but transpose their musical roots right into the heart of modernism with plaintive delayed guitars, epic soundscapes, trance-inducing drums and the grave bass guitar of the band’s founder Lars Kappeler. This exceptional blend is reigned by the characteristic sombre voice of singer Daniel.
THE BLACK SHEEP FREDERICK DICKENS: A darkwave/gothic-electro duo from Darlington, conceptualising the life and legacy of Charles Dickens’ wastrel brother. They take a tragic story filled with darkness and despair and use it as a metaphor for the modern day.
Dark and cinematic soundscapes combined with unhinged, baritone vocals; their live performances are energetic, theatrical and filled with a semi-operatic intensity and rock ‘n’ roll edge that complements the varied waves of classical instrumentation, organic samples and heavy industrial sounds. They are an exciting experimental act reminiscent of Scott Walker, Nick Cave, The Dead Can Dance and early Pet Shop Boys/Depeche Mode.
CARPE NOCTUM is the notorious dark alternative club that began life in Bradford’s 1 in 12 Club, back in 1999. Residents DJ Misrule and HGV will keep you dancing and drinking till 2am with the patent mix of goth, post-punk, industrial and “stuff”.
